Brent, I hadn’t considered that there might be a Platonic form for urban war machine, but the motif is crucial. My philosophy is to ride as if everyone on the road is trying to kill you. And that’s without the “come-and-get-me attitude” of the pod. If Batman wasn’t Bruce Wayne, he might be jealous of my gas mileage. But don’t you get the sense that having a fuel hog for a mount is more like a badge of honor for him? Mr. Wayne didn’t seem to mind slamming his Lamborghini during the chase seen in Black Knight.

I’m going Platonic on this one. Your bike participates most fully with the form of “curvy cruiser”, while Batman’s participates much more in “urban war machine”. On these grounds, I don’t feel the need to choose. But I bet Batman is jealous of your gas mileage.

emjay, I s’pose you have to be an epistemologist to recognize the cool factor of epistemology. And I s’pose the Batman’s forays into epistemology are comparatively infrequent. On an epistemologist’s salary, I couldn’t afford the tires on the Batman’s ride! And where are you s’posed to buy rounds for those blasters mounted on the fork? (We don’t have a local branch of Wayne Enterprises.)

    Cheers!

You can’t make a judgment like this in the abstract. On a plausible particularist understanding of coolness, surely it turns out to be true that your ride is cooler, because it absorbs coolness from its owner. (Obviously, being a professional epistemologist is much cooler than being the caped crusader.)

Also, the batcycle is too flashy. I like how yours is more understated.
